DIY Confetti Window Treat Bags

Oh how we love confetti, we could probably incorporate it into every single DIY we do and photo we take!
It just screams celebration and is totally appropriate for well, every festive occasion! These simple confetti window treat bags are super simple and they can be filled with anything from more confetti to popcorn to candy! You can embellish them any way you want to as well, festooning at the top makes them look even more festive or glue sequence around the opening to add some shimmer! How fun would it be to give mini bags filled with confetti to wedding guests to throw at the bride and groom!?! Celebrations can happen at anytime so its always good to keep some confetti handy!

Materials
Paper party bags of your choice
Contact paper
Confetti
Tags
festooning {optional}
sequence {optional}
Filling of your choice
{more confetti, popcorn, candy, little toys, etc}

1. Take your party bag and trace a circle {size of your choice}. We traced a ribbon spool and cut out the circle.

2. Use the same sized ribbon spool to trace an additional circle on a piece of your contact paper.
Cut it out. Take off the paper backing so the sticky side is up.

3. If you don't have pre made confetti you can simple make your own with various colored papers and a hole punch.

4. Sprinkle your confetti all over the sticky part of your contact paper.

5. Cut an additional circle out of the contact paper, larger than the circle that you already created so that there is hang over.

6. Take off the paper baking of your new circle and stick it on top of your confetti covered circle. {So the sticky part of the confetti circle and the sticky part of the new cirlce are touching each other} Again, there will be hang over from the new circle. This will stick to the inside of your bag to secure the confetti window.

7. Carefully open you bag and slide the attached contact paper circles inside you bag {sticky side up}. Make sure the confetti circle is exactly where you want it and press it into the bag. The overhang from the circle without the confetti will stick to the bag and hold it in place.

8. Fold the bag over and glue on festooning if desired and add a little tag! Fill with whatever treat you desire and celebrate!

Sweet Little Fox Party Hats

We hope you liked our new fox collection that we introduced Monday! We have to admit, its one of our favorites! We couldn't wait to come up with fun DIY to go along with it! There is just something about party hats that we love, they just bring 'fun' to any children's celebration {well, ok adult celebrations too!}. But, this is not just any party hat, this is a 'fox' party hat! We had to giggle when we were making these, because the little fox ears peeking out of the hat are so darn cute! Can you imagine how adorable all the kiddos would look wearing one! These are so easy to make and they match the fox on our paper goods...come one you know you want to have a fox party!

Materials:
paper party hat from craft store {to trace}
Blue and white stripe card stock
Pink festooning
Ribbon
Brown and white felt cut into fox ears
{just free hand cut an ear shape in the brown and make a smaller one in white to fit inside}
Hot glue
Icing initial tag

1. Trace your paper party hat {from any craft store} onto your blue and white striped card stock
and cut out.

2. Hot glue your paper into a hat shape.

3. Glue your pink festooning around the bottom of the hat and take a smaller piece and glue to the top.

4. Take your initial tag and glue it onto the center of the hat.

5. Glue the white part of the fox ear to the brown part and then glue behind the fringe of the festooning on either side of the hat.

6. Glue your ribbon to the inside of the bottom of the hat on either side.

DIY glittered sticker treat boxes

So the other day at Hobby Lobby getting paper we randomly saw these stickers called, 'DIYthickers'. Taking a closer look we realized they were double sided stickers that you can customize with your own glitter. What!?! Is it wrong that we are in our mid 30's and felt like kids in a candy store..I mean stickers you can glitter yourself!?! Well, of course the first thing that came to our minds was DIY! Although, these are pretty self explanatory, we had to do something party related with these! We thought personalized treat boxes would be perfect! How adorable would it be to let the kiddos spell their name, dust with glitter, fill with treats and take home!?! If you were doing this for a really little kids party, you of course, could do them yourself and have them displayed. And, yes, we are totally aware that you could just go get glittery stickers and put them on the box, but this is just so much more fun, don't you think!?!

Put the stickers wherever you desire, take the top tabs off and glitter away!

Sure would be cute to pair these treat boxes with our 'Sweet Shoppe' or our new fill-in-the-blank 'Sweet Shoppe' paper party collection!

Pretty Paper Floral Lanterns

As you may know we are huge fans of Kelly over at Studio DIY! {Check out our super fun interview with her here} We had the opportunity to guest post for her at Christmas time and were so excited to have had another chance a few weeks ago. With summer in full bloom outdoor entertaining is a must! Who does not love dining and parting al fresco when its warm and beautiful! But, just like partying indoors you need to party in style outdoors too! We love paper lanterns they are so versatile and come in so many different colors and sizes! Although, they are already so festive and fun, we thought why not add some 'pretty' to them too! And, yes paper flowers can make anything prettier...right!?! So we created a DIY on making mini paper lanterns adorned with simple tissue paper flowers. They can be hung from tree branches so they are all different heights, which gives a lot of dimension and adds a lot of color! You could also put them over a string of lights and create a beautiful garland {with lit lanterns} this would make a great addition to any night time party! It would also be beautiful to use all different sized lanterns if you were looking to do these on a grander scheme...pretty outdoor wedding maybe? Check out our full DIY here! And then stay a while and check out all of Kelly's amazing ideas and too!

Mini Monster Cookie Treats

It has been quite a couple of weeks. We have both been going crazy with so many end of the school year activities. We are ready to sit back and enjoy all that the summer has to offer! But, this is the last week of school and its definitely a mile stone for all of our girls! Kellie's oldest daughter will be entering junior high, what!?! And her little one and my twins will all be going into first grade! We just do not know where the time goes...we have to admit we are both a little teary eyed!
With the end of the year comes lots of thank yous for all of the special people who helped our littles grow and learn this year! Today for their last day of school, I wanted to do something fun for the girls class and teacher. So we made these little mini monster cookies! Yes, they are just a mini version of our big ones. But the minis are just so cute! We know that all of the kids will get such a kick our of these little monsters...full of chocolate chips and silly sprinkle teeth! These are so simple to make, just mini chocolate chip cookies fill them with buttercream and roll them in sprinkles! Make some silly eyes and you have a mini monster! What a fun little treat, right!?! How cute would these look on a sweet table at a 'monster bash'!?! They pair perfectly with our 'monster' paper party goods!

Pair it with our Monster mash tags and it makes they cutest little gift!!

DIY Glittery Pink Vases

Oh my, it has been quite a week, well month really! May usually just fills up so fast and flies by and this May is no exception! With end of the year recitals, school activities, birthdays and family visiting and of course working with our customers, we never have a dull moment! But, we wouldn't have it any other way. As you know we have a little party coming up this weekend so we just thought it would be fun to show you some of the DIYs we are working on for it. We hope you liked the little tea cup favors! Today we are sharing our glittery pink vases that are going to be centerpieces on the little tables. Aside from the tea cups, these might be one of the simplest DIYs you can do! They really dress up the vases and definitely add a 'little sparkle to your party'!

Materials:
Glass vase
Paint brush
Glue
Confetti glitter

Simply wash and dry your vases.
Use a paint brush to paint glue onto your vase. Be uneven with your strokes at the top so that the glitter line will not be perfectly even. {If you want the glitter to be perfectly even us a piece of tape to mark off the spot where you want the glitter to stop}
Sprinkle your glitter on, making sure all of your glue is covered.
Go back with some glue on your brush and just lightly tap it around the top of where you ended your glue/glitter. Sprinkle more glitter on. This will give the glitter a gradual diminishing look.
Stand your vases up right and let the glue dry as it will dry clear and you are done!

Simple Tea Cup Favors

If you follow us on Facebook you know that we are planning a little Japanese Tea Party for my twins birthday this weekend! We are so excited to share all of the details with you, but we just had to share this extremely simple tea cup DIY. If you have littles you know that they love anything with their name on it...especially when you have twins marking their territory is a must! So we thought it would be so sweet to have a little tea {or sake} cup at each child's place setting. But, even sweeter to have them personalized with thier names so they could double as one of their take home favors! This project is nothing new, but it really is as simple as it seems so we wanted to share it with you in case you ever wanted to try it!

All it requires is a sharpie {or ceramic pen} and an oven safe cup! We used little sake cups from World Market and a pink sharpie!  Wash and dry each cup. Write each child's name on the cup {and this is the best part if you don't like it simply wash it off until you are happy.} When you have exactly what you want bake the cups in the oven at 350 degrees for a half hour and you are done!

Simple Mother's Day Paper Flower Corsage or Present Topper

We, here in the Chicagoland area, are finally feeling sweet touches of spring. Beautiful flowers are blooming and warm sunshine is filling the sky! So we know Mother's Day is right around the corner! What mom doesn't appreciate flowers!?! As you know, there is something about paper flowers that we just love...maybe its that they last forever! Why not make mom a beautiful paper flower corsage that she can wear proudly or use it to top her gift! These simple DIY flowers are sure to bring a smile to any mom's face!

Materials
Card stock of your choice
Scissors
Hot glue
Safety pin
Circle punch {Optional}

Take a piece of white paper and draw the shape of the petal you desire, it should be not bigger than 1 ½”. Be sure to have a rectangle shape at the bottom, this is important for creating the flower shape. Cut it out and use this as your pattern

Take your pattern and lay it on top of 2-3 squares of your cut out card stock and cut out. {you can create
2-3 petals at a time depending on the thickness of your card stock}

You will need 11 petals for each flower {you can make the inner ones smaller if you desire}

Where you have your rectangle at the bottom cut a slit a few centimeters up
Cross one side of the slit paper over the other and hot glue it to hold it in place, this will give the petal shape and dimension

Cut a small 1” circle out of your card stock, or you can use a paper punch

Start to glue the bottoms of the flowers around the circumference of the circle. You will need about 4 petals. You can add another layer of 4 and the inner layer will have 3 petals.

Punch two more circles out. Glue them on top of one another {glue in the middle} and cut slits in them.

Glue the middle of the flower in and pull the slits inward to make it look more realistic. You can add leaves if you desire {just glue them to the top of the base or the bottom of the flower. Add a safety pin if you are making a corsage, otherwise you can simply glue in onto of your package!

Watercolor Floral Cake Crown DIY

As promised here is the watercolor floral cake crown DIY...

Materials
Floral Wire
Green Satin Ribbon
Hot Glue
Watercolor Paper
Watercolors/Paintbrush
Tissue Paper
Floral Stamens {craft store/baking department}

1. Take your floral wire and twist it together so it forms a circle.
2. Wrap your floral wire with green satin ribbon using hot glue to secure it.
3. Take your watercolor paper and cut {about 14} 2 inch circles out. Rip the edges a little bit to make it look more life-like. Cut a small slit in the bottom of the circles. Punch out one circle to use as a base to glue the petals onto. You can also cut a few leaf shapes as well.

4. Begin to paint your petals with the watercolor of your choice. You don't have to be neat, leave white space and paint the edges darker.

5. Begin to assemble your flower. Cross one side of the slit paper over the other and hot glue it to hold it in place, this will give the petal shape and dimension. {If you are having trouble envisioning see here} Begin by gluing 5 petals to the base and layer from there. Just hot glue the petals on until your flower is full. You can curve the final 3 petals in or leave them open.
6. The tissue paper flowers can be made by following this simple DIY .

7. Use hot glue to assemble your floral cake crown however you like!
