My Sweet and Saucy Online Shop

It has been so amazing watching the success that Melody Brandon has had with her fabulous pastry shop, My Sweet and Saucy! We had the honor of interviewing her over the summer (check it out here). She is just so sweet, humble and gracious. We were giddy with excitment when we learned that My Sweet and Saucy was opening an online shop! We are sure that you have seen the phenomoinal things that Melody and her staff create! We are always in awe not only by the beauty of thier work but by the lovely entertainig wear that they use. Her recipes focus on simple, natural ingredients and the photography of her work is knock your socks off beautiful! Donna Hay is the definition of a domestic diva and her new website is like a goldmine of gorgeous party and entertaining musts!

Etsy Thursday

We absolutely adore Etsy! We think it is such an amazing place for artists to showcase and sell their items. It is where we started our first online shop and where we have found an overwhelming amount of inspiration. Although Etsy is definitely a growing market, there are so many people that don't know about it and so much "undiscovered" talent! So we are starting Etsy Thursdays on our blog. We will be showcasing artists or items that inspire us; we hope they will inspire you too!
Its no surprise that Kellie and I love soft vintage inspired color palettes and items! Today we are showcasing a woman that really needs no introduction, as she has over 1100 sales on Etsy alone! Whitney Smith is one of the first artists we fell in love with when we found Etsy. Her vintage inspired handmade pottery is so gorgeous! She sells bowls, plates, teapots and many other items. However, we are smitten with her cake and cupcake stands! They are so perfectly whimsical, with the bird and floral embellishments. Although they are simple they are stunning, beautifully made and functional! Would you not love receiving one of these are a gift or a getting one for yourself!

We bought these a while ago and are still finding an excuse to use them. Have you seen these yet...ruffled cupcake liners!?! They are so sweet and come in a variety of different colors! We just love them!

Two Beautiful Dessert Books

Today we wanted to share with you two beautiful dessert books that you will absolutely love! I actually bought both of these books for Kellie as gifts, and I wanted to take them back because I loved them so much...LOL. But I ended up buying them for myself as well. We love both of these books because they are as lovely on the outside as they are on the inside. They are perfect to display in your kitchen or on a coffee table and even better for actually reading and using! They are both full of amazing photography and fabulous recipes. The first book is called ChocolateChocolate by Lisa Yockelson and the second, Sticky, Chewy, Messy, Gooey by Jill O'Connor.

ChocolateChocolate caught my eye because the cover is so beautiful and because it had the word chocolate in the title twice...of course! This book is really informative, Lisa shares various valuable baking processes that should be very well received by home bakers. Lisa teaches an in depth lesson about chocolate, what it is, how it is made, different types, working with it, techniques and methods. It is also infused with sweet stories that lead into delicious recipes! The photography, by Ben Fink, is gorgeous too! This is really a fabulous book, worth getting for yourself or as a gift for a friend.

Sticky, Chewy, Messy, Gooey, by Jill O'Connor, is one of our favorite go to dessert books! Sometime we just marvel at the design of the book, even the borders are adorable! It's full of whimsical pictures, by Leigh Beisch, and recipes that make you want to run out and buy every ingredient in the book and start baking! We love how Jill's stories intertwine with her recipes. There are also tons of great and useful tips that you will love. This book is truly a delight, you will just adore it!
