Create & Celebrate: Easter Egg Cake Stand and A Pink Ruffle Garland Giveaway

Hi, my name is Katie and I'm absolutely thrilled to be sharing this first post with you! For the past few years, Melissa and Kellie have encouraged me to share several of my DIY projects on this beautiful blog. I am truly honored that they have asked me to contribute  a new monthly column entitled 'Create & Celebrate.' Nothing inspires me more than when I am asked to design something handmade for a special occasion, or to create party goods for a unique theme. I hope to provide a bit of inspiration to help you create memories and celebrate the sweet moments in life! So, let's get to it!

A week after Easter, I am still finding plastic eggs all over my house! Many of them seem to be missing one half or the other once they have been emptied of the treat inside. This project turns some of your extra egg inventory into a cake stand for your little ones!

{You will also need glue gun/glue and paint if you choose.}

1.  Glue the medium egg half onto the center of the bottom of your plate
2.  Glue the mini egg on top of the large egg half
3.  Glue the two pieces together. Be generous with the glue to fill in any gaps.
{Paint if you would like with spray paint and a non-toxic top coat.}

*We recommend using only play sweet treats with this cake stand, but it would be fun to use these as part of a centerpiece too!

Ruffle Garland Giveaway

I love incorporating handmade items into a celebration that can be used each year, played with, or even used as decor after the party. If you have seen some of my past projects it appears I might be a bit obsessed with ruffles, so I thought it would be fitting to give away a pink ruffle garland similar to those I made for Melissa's sweet girls' birthday party a few years ago. To enter, please leave a comment below telling us how you would use the garland. We will pick a winner at random on Friday. I can't wait to read your ideas!

**Please be sure to check back April 12th to see if you are the winner**
This is for one pin ruffle garland and the item will be shipped within 5 days of winning.
{Open to US and Oversea readers}

Since I only have boys, I don't get to do many girl parties. But my birthday is the Saturday before Mother's Day this year and I'm hosting my very first tea party for my birthday and this garland would be perfect for my buffet backdrop!

I love the garland and I am confident my little girl would proudly decorate her room with this. She has a twin brother so she is over the top with all things girl - wondering if this is so she doesn't have to share it...Thank you for the opportunity and inspiration!

I'd LOVE your pretty pink garland for Lydia's rainbow party in 2 weeks :) I'd use it for the backdrop for her the music portion of her party. Or even with the dessert display backdrop with your beautiful birthday banner you made.

Thanks,
Katie

Hello Melissa & Kellie,
Would love to use your beautiful garland to decorate our bakery's cake display table for all the local Tampa Bay Area bridal shows. Shows are done 2 times a month. It would be perfect for my upcoming show on April 28th in St. Petersburg & would be my pleasure to work with you & promote Icing Designs!

I of course would use it as a beautiful decoration at either one of my 2 daughters' birthday parties. We always seem to incorporate the color pink into their birthday schemes. But I would use it also as a swag on their mirror photo/art wall above their dresser. Because pink is also the main color in their bedroom. A little girl can never get enough pink!

I am the mom of 2 little guys... Brady (3) and Max (19 months). Everything around me seems to be blue, red, or green! Don't get a chance to incorporate pink very often! I am hosting a girl's night out get together at my house this month with wine, cheese, chocolate and jewelry and want to use all pinks and greens in my decor. The pink ruffle garland would look perfect! Then maybe one day I'll use it for a baby girl's room decor too :)

OMG I just love it! As much as those Ice cream Decorations that helped me to find your web site through google. I'm so much in love with your ideas, girls. And I'm planning a party for my little one, she is turning one at the end of may and will try the first ice cream in her life on her birthday party:) I wish I could have this garland! If not, I hope one day you will share a secret with us how to make it. Thank you for the "fairy tale" that you create. Jenya

Love the cake stand. I'll have to make one for my twin girls. They would love it. I'd use the garland above the fireplace in our new house when we move in a couple of weeks. After owning 3 homes, this will be our first with a fireplace. Very excited to get to decorate it!
