DIY Party Hats

As promised, we wanted to share how we made the party hats we did for Stella's birthday party! They are so easy and you can embellish them how ever you want!
There are so many amazing DIY party hats out there, this is just our take on them. All you need to start is your favorite scrapbooking paper, a cheap paper party hat, ribbon (satin or sheer), crepe paper, faux feathers, embellishments of your choice, scissors, a stapler and a hot glue gun!

You can take apart an old or new paper party hat (that you can get at any party store) just to use as a template. We already had a template that we have been using. Just trace the shape of the hat onto the back of the paper you are making your new party hat of. Once traced just follow the lines and cut.
Then just wrap the end of the hat around and shape into a cone and staple. (You can use a glue gun if you want to glue the seems together.)
Its okay if there is a little hole in the top.

Use your glue gun to put a dab of glue in the hole at the top of the hat and then stick your feathers in.
Next your are going to take your crepe paper (we LOVE Ribbonsetc crepe paper...its actually sewn down the center so it is already ruffled) and glue it around the bottom of your hat. Make sure that you glue the crepe paper in the middle so that there is an overlay on the top and bottom. (The middle of the crepe paper should be toward the bottom of the hat)
Then take the top of the crepe paper and pull in down and little bit and the bottom and pull it up just to give it some dimension.
Then you are going to take your two even strips of ribbon and glue them on the inside of either side of the hat. You can use any kind of ribbon you like, satin or sheer.
We also glued a strip of different textured ribbon in the middle of the crepe paper.

Lastly, we just embellished the front with a paper rosette with a gem in the middle.
Making the rosette is very simple as well. Take peek at our tutorial here. (Scroll down to the 9th picture and just follow the simple instructions)

Stella's Princess Tea Party

This weekend we were honored to create a princess tea party for our dear friends Katie and Kevin for their 3 year old daughter, Stella! Stella choose the princess tea party theme all on her own! So we knew we had to whip up something magical for her! This party was very dear to us and brought us a lot of joy because we were able to help this amazing family, as Kevin is undergoing treatments to fight pancreatic cancer.
This party was entirely DIY. We will be having a few tutorials on how to make everything this week. Stay tuned and please remember the
cards that support the Oldham family are still available on our Etsy site!

We created the swags simply out of light pink tooling and the adorned them with satin ribbon and rosettes that we made out of tissue paper! We used a light pink lace overlay to cover the table with. We made one of our letter garlands to spell out Stella, but instead of stringing it through with a ribbon we hung each letter individually from the swag with a sheer green ribbon to resemble vines.

We made these party hats for all of the little princesses to wear! They turned out so cute and we will show you how easy they are to make later in the week...and even give you a chance to win a personalized one for your little princess!

Isn't Stella soooo sweet!

We made "glass slipper cookies", what princess party would be complete without them!
We also made "princess tea cups" out of mini butterscotch brownies with a caramel glaze. Then we piped white chocolate handles to hang off the side to complete the tea cup look. We also dipped marshmallows in white chocolate and used course pink sugar to give them a glittery touch.

Pink princess popcorn and yellow and pink lemonade gum balls!

We made large and mini cupcakes with almond buttercream. We used our princess cupcake toppers to decorate the larger cupcakes!

Thanks for sharing this party with us! It was so much fun for us to do and so special for us to be able to do this for the Oldham's!

Princess Tea Party Sneak Peek

Kellie and I are working on a really special party for this weekend! We are creating a beautiful princess tea party for sweet Stella! You may remember our post about her Dad Kevin who is undergoing treatments for pancreatic cancer. We wanted to help throw Stella a wonderful party for her third birthday! So here is a little sneak peek of the party hats we made for all of the little princesses!

My Silly Bear Giveaway

We told you yesterday that we just loved the mini pom pom cupcake flags that we ordered from My Silly Bear for the baby shower last weekend!
They are just so cute! Do you love them too?!? Well if you do, My Silly Bear is giving away a set of 12! Just leave a comment and let us know what you would use them for if you won! We will keep the giveaway open until Sunday night and pick a winner at random to be announced on Monday morning!! Visit My Silly Bear on Etsy! Good luck!!

Jade Lyn's Baby Shower

Kellie's cousin Jennifer has been waiting a long time for a second baby, so she HAD to have a shower after she found out that they are having a baby girl! We first created this (hand-illustrated and hand-glittered) invitation to compliment the colors of baby Jade's new nursery.

We wanted to stay in the color theme for the whole shower, so we used corals, buttery yellows and chartreuse greens. We found some great paper and the Paper Source to use as a backdrop for the sweet table that really complimented the color palette.

We made hand-glittered tags for each item on the table and tied them on with little shear ribbons. And a letter garland with the baby's name on it!

We got the cutest poms from My Silly Bear! Our absolute favorite is the mini pom pom cupcake flags! They were so adorable! Wouldn't you love a set of them...well come back tomorrow because we will be doing a giveaway for a set of 12!

Kellie`s delicious brownie pops...sooooo goood!! We also made two mini cakes...we love mini cakes, they are so much fun to make! We have been getting a lot of questions about where we got those cake stands too. Well, they were LOVE at first site. They are actually candle holders for large candles. But I just knew they had to be used as cake stands when I saw them at Marshall's Homegoods!

We made cordinating cupcake flags to stick in the sandwhiches. We just love that little birdie!

At a different table a guessing game was set up! Guest got to guess how many truffles were in the jar on the dessert table. Guests also got to write Jade Lyn a letter so that mommy and daddy could tuck the letter away for her to read when she gets older!

A garland of Jade Lyn's 3D ultra sound pictures was set up across the fireplace...the pictures were amazing!

We made flower cookies for the guests to take home with them! And Howard, soon to be big brother, got the cutest shirt to wear for the shower! (T-shirt from Etsy)
