DIY ribbon chandelier and winner of our giveaway!

Good Monday morning! We had a really fun weekend, we had our "little man" baby shower on Sunday, which we are so excited to share with you this week! Today we have a fun little DIY project...but first we want to announce the winner of our Parisian Holiday note card set giveaway! Lee, who came to us through Whipperberry...you are the winner! Just email us at icingdesigns@hotmail.com and let us know which design you would like and where we should send them!
So we just love the look of a gorgeous chandelier hanging over a dessert table, or any table really. However, they are not always the most affordable item! So Kellie and I decided to create something to give the impression of a chandelier for a lot less money! We just took different lengths and colors of thin ribbon...

Then we took crystal beads and tied them on the ends of the ribbon...

After you have your beads on you can take thicker ribbons in the same color palette and put them into the mix of beaded ribbon. You can hang them in a bunch above a dessert table to give a chandelier effect. It is really amazing how the light really dances off of the beads to give that "crystal" affect!

I was wondering the same thing! How do you hang them from the ceiling?

Why isn't anyone answering this question?! It is a valid question for sure!

As long as your beads are not heavy, like the ones shown in the picture above, use double sided tape or poster putty. If you don't mind holes, use tacks.

Hi! Sorry for not answering this earlier...its been a crazy day! There are a few ways that you can hang these..yes, either clear tacks or we used the sticky tack that does not take your paint off the walls. You can just buy it at your local Walgreens. If you would like to make it more of a unit hanging piece, you can get the hard styrofoam open circle piece and wrap ribbon around it to cover the styrofoam. Then glue the ribbons downward on the inside of the open circle. Then take two ribbons and glue them in the opposite way and attach those two ribbons to the wall with a tack or a small white nail. Again sorry about the late response...hope this helps!

What a great response. I think that's a great idea about the sticky tack, cause who wants holes in their ceiling? I think this is a wonderful idea and I'm going to share your site on facebook. Keep up the great work. :)
