Princess Ribbon Wands

We are helping our friend Meredith from Bloom Photography with a princess party for her sweet little girl, Molly...who is turning 3 in a couple of weeks! Meredith wanted to make a few special things for the little girls to have that would make them feel like princesses! So one of the things we made were ribbon wands, although they are so incredibly simple to make they are so colorful and magical for the little ones to wave around! Meredith even suggested that they would make a great centerpiece in the middle of the table in a beautiful vase! All you need is ribbon, extra long lolli sticks (made by Wilton and can be bought at most any craft store), scissors and a glue gun!

You can use as many pieces of ribbon and colors of ribbon as you want. We choose to us 4 pieces of ribbon on each stick. We bought a light pink satin, a sheer white, a semi sheer dark pink and a roll of white tulle that we cut into skinny pieces. Just divide the ribbon into color piles. Decide how you want to put the ribbon together. We layered the light pink first, white, dark pink and finally the tulle.
Layer the pieces so you can see the top of all of them, take your glue gun and start at the tulle and glue up to the light pink. Then just take your lolli stick and roll it toward the tulle until the ribbon is all securely glued together on the stick.

You can trim the ribbon so that it hangs slightly below the end of the stick. We just added a little bow with a gem in the center to the birthday girl's wand to make it extra special!

We were inspired to make these by a photo we saw on pinterest.

Cupcake Tutus and Tulle Pom Pom Wands

Today we waned to share two more little DIY projects with you....cupcake tutus and tulle pom pom wands. Both are super easy and are perfect for a ballerina party! The cupcake tutus are pretty similar to the apothecary jar tutus, just shorter. You follow all of the same steps found here. But when you are done creating the entire tutu you can just hot glue the tutu right on to a ruffle cupcake liner. We bake the cupcakes separately in one liner and then when they are decorated and ready to go you can just slip them into the additional liner with the tutu on it!

(Adorable Cupcake Toppers "Peppy Toppers" by Potter and Butler!)
What ballerina party is complete without ballerina wands!?! These are just a combination of mini tulling poms and ribbon wands. All you do it hot glue the stick from the ribbon wand into the center of the tulle pom poms and your wand is complete!

DIY Winter Fairy Wands

Well the new year has officially begun! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday and that your new year is off to a fabulous start and will be filled with many joys! We are really excited about this year and can't wait to see what it holds. Last week the DIY party horns, that we created for Kate Lander's gorgeous New Year's Eve inspiration shoot on the front page of the Huffngton Post's craft section, which was such a thrill! Last Friday, we had the pleasure of sharing our DIY winter fairy wands on Babiekins blog!!
If you follow our blog regularly, you know how much we love creating DIY projects! One of our goals this year is to create at least one DIY project to compliment each of our paper party good collections. Our goal.in creating and sharing our parties has always been to show how you can throw a really pretty party at a reasonable cost! Since the winter season is upon us we created a fairy wand to compliment our winter fairy paper party goods. These wands would be so sweet to give as take home gifts, complete with a tag customized with each little fairy's name on it!

Material List
Hot glue
Scissors
Glittered felt pieces
Batting
Eyelash yarn in glittery silver and white
Long Lollipop sticks
Blue Satin Ribbon
Thin white Satin Ribbon
1. Print and cut out the star template {cut out two felt stars for each wand you are making.}
2. Hot glue the top and one side of the star. Through the opening, stuff the star with your batting. Once it is stuffed, hot glue the rest of the star together.
3. Take your glittery eyelash-style yarn, and hot glue it around the entire star.
4. Take your lollipop stick and add a small dab of hot glue on the bottom, then attach the end of your white eyelash-style yarn and start to wrap around until you reach the top. {You may need to add a few dabs of hot glue as you go.} Once you reach the top, add another dab of hot glue to the top and attach the rest of your yarn. You may need to trim some of the “eye lashes” if they are too long.
5. Take your covered stick and tie 4-6 pieces of various length white ribbon to the top, and tie your blue bow around around it {remember to leave about an inch and a half above the blue ribbon, so that you can hot glue the stick onto the back of the star}
You can add a customized fairy tag and give one to each little fairy!

DIY hand-glittered mini paper pom fairy flower wands

We have been thinking about this project for a while and the best way to share it with you. We absolutely love paper poms, they are so inexpensive and make such a huge statement! We always thought it would be gorgeous to have all white paper poms with glittered edges over a sweet table for a wedding or clustered to make a beautiful arch for a bride and groom to stand under! Well, the larger poms are a little bit harder and more time consuming to glitter, so we thought we would share how to glitter the mini ones! So we created these mini paper pom fairy wands, which would  be so sweet to make if your little one is having a fairy party...or if they just love pretending they are a fairy! My girls got a hold of these and immediately put their fairy wings and tutus on, they ran around outside and played with these for almost an hour! These little wands would compliment our sweet little cupcake pixie paper goods perfectly! You could also just use these as regular poms and hang them over a sweet table! They look gorgeous when the light hits them!
Materials:
mini paper poms {you can make your own or we used Martha Stewart}
glue {Elmer's or tacky glue will work fine}
glitter {we used Martha Stewart white and silver mixed}
paint brush
paper straws
ribbon
glue gun

Fluff your poms completely. Take a paint brush and dip it in some of your glue and just start brushing the edges of the poms. You do not have to be neat about this, it looks pretty if you make a few brush marks down the petal of the poms, you do not have to focus on just getting the edges. After you have the front side brushed with glue, you can either shake your glitter onto it or dip it in glitter that you have sprinkled on paper. It may look a little clumpy, but when the glue dries it will look perfect! After you have glittered your poms and are happy with them just take a dab of hot glue and glue the paper straw into the center of the pom. Finally, take some ribbon and tie it onto the straw and you are done!

Sweet Little Princess Party

Keeping with our princess theme this week, we are so excited to share a sweet little princess party with you! Last week we created paper goods and a sweet table for our dear friend Meredith's adorable daughter Molly! Molly turned 3 and loves princesses and pink! So we wanted to help create something enchanting and sweet for the little girls to enjoy! We started with a custom illustration of a little blonde princess to set the tone for the party, from which we created Molly's invitation and gift tags from. We stuck the gift tags on white bags under little crepe paper and tulle rosettes and Meredith filled them with goodies for the little princesses to bring home.

As the little girls arrived they all got princess crowns and a bag of jewels to decorate them with! They also got to make little beaded necklaces to wear with their princess crowns and gowns!

After eating a proper princess lunch, the girls played pin the kiss on the frog!
Meredith had the brilliant idea of setting up a sweet table in front of the fireplace and we loved that because it gave a bit of medieval princess feel! We made a swag out of tulle to to drape above the table and piled paper poms and DIY mini tulle poms in the center and made a "Princess Molly" letter garland to add some sparkle! We filled the sweet table with with pink and white cupcakes, chocolate covered pink pretzels with white non-perils, marshmallow wands, glass slipper cookies, marshmallow birthday cakes and a white ruffle cake that we topped with a "happy birthday" over sized cupcake flag!

After the girls had their fill of sweets, they were treated to a reading of "Princess and the Pea"! Their princess skills were even tested when they were asked to sit on a pile of pillows, if they could feel the ball placed at the bottom of the pile they were rewarded with their princess ribbon wands!
This is perhaps our favorite shot of the whole party...miss molly and her momma, Meredith! Happy Birthday Sweet Princess Molly!!!
