Sweet Springtime Play Date in Gloomy Weather!

This has been the gloomiest April that we can remember. It seems like it has rained almost every day this month! We are longing for the warm sunshine and blooming flowers and the little ones running around outside squealing with joy!
We really wanted to have a little springtime playdate for two of our really special friends and their little girls. We, of course, were hoping that they could do an egg hunt outside and play in the warm sun. But, it was raining so unfortunately we had to hold our "springtime" play date inside.
Before everyone came over we set up a mini sweet table for the girls to sit around and have lunch at. My twins were so excited to help hang the "spring"
letter garland we made above the table and decorate it with crepe paper flowers and butterflies. We wanted the table to be dainty and sweet. We made little chocolate dipped marshmallows with pastel sprinkles and a little pink ribbon flags on the sticks, chocolate dipped oreos with a little cherry blossom piped on top, cupcakes with cherry blossoms and pink sugared butterfly cookies. We set the table with little pink plates and napkins wrapped with ribbon and flowers. The girls reluctantly ate lunch while they stared at all of the treats that were awaiting them. After they played a few games of hide n go seek, we let them decorate bunny cookies, with tinted butter cream frostings and spring sprinkles. The girls were giddy with excitment! We did a little indoor egg hunt with them, and each little girl had to find a special chicky egg! The girls all got to bring home a sweet little pink and white polka dot bag filled with treats. Our lovely friend Katie, even made the girls the most adorable bunny bags filled with playdough! We are pretty sure the girls had a fun filled day, it was so much fun to watch them play and get so giddy over all of the sweets that they got to eat!

Some Bunny is Turning One!

Our dear friend Jenny's sweet little daughter, Emmalyn turned one last week! A couple of month ago we started thinking about a theme for her party! Jenny came up with the idea of a vintage bunny and of course we loved it! Hence our bunny illustration was created! We loved the bunny because it is great for Easter and for birthday parties! We used the bunny illustration for the invitations, food tent cards and an over sized cupcake flag for Emmalyn's smash cake. We also created a custom letter garland that read "Some bunny is one", that hung across the front of the sweet table. We choose a color palette of soft pinks, champagne and chocolate brown. We wanted to add a little bit of texture to the backdrop behind the sweet table, so we hung different shades and textures of pink ribbon and added little flowers to it. We dressed the table with a sweet little lace table cloth. We made Emmalyn's little smash cake and added pink ribbon and lace to the bottom with mini flowers that matched the backdrop. We also made little carrot cupcakes with pink fondant carrots on top, bunny shortbread cookies and little pink bunny rice krispie treats dipped in pink chocolate and a buttercream flower in their little ears. We found the cutest little white picket fence, which was great to hold our adorable bunny cake pops, made by the fabulous Terri of Terri's Party Treasures and the sweet little pink chocolate carrots made by my amazing aunt Gail, The Craft Diva! We just made a little flower garland to hang across the front of it, to tie in with the backdrop. We filled apothecary jars with "bunny munch" which was chocolate covered popcorn and mini marshmallows and "cotton tails" which were little powdered donuts. The day was beautiful captured by our sweet friend Meredith of Bloom Photography by Meredith Price!

Annabella's "Party Owl Night Long" Golden Birthday

Last Friday we had so much fun celebrating Annabella’s (Kellie’s oldest daughter) golden birthday! She turned 10...double digits, so hard to believe...where does the time go!?! Annabella loves owls and cupcakes and she is has such a sweet old soul. So we created our “owl love you forever” invitation with her in mind. It is a sassy, glamorous owl sitting ontop of a 3 tiered cake...perfect for any tween! A blush pink, chocolate brown and champagne color palette set the tone for the invites and the party.
We created a fanciful dessert table that featured our DIY owl in a cupcake tree . We hung pink rock candy in the tree to add some extra sparkle! Terri from Terri’s Party Treasures created the most amazing owl cake pops that perfectly resembled our illustration! They were also delicious! We also made cookie dough pops, smores pops (recipe adapted from Pizzazzerie's smore bites) and mini owl cookies that we put in mini clear boxes for the girls to take home. Instead of a traditional birthday cake, we made a tiered chocolate chip cookie cake filled with pink buttercream and topped it with an oversized cupcake flag. We draped pink lace behind and over the table to create a soft, pretty feel with a touch of whimsy, and hung a “whoo-ray” letter garland across the front of the table. We made gift tags that we tied around the goodie bags for all the girls to take home, which were also used as part of the games they played throughout the night. We placed them under Annabella’s golden birthday letter garland. Kellie hung poms and twirled crepe paper out from the ceiling fan and it looked amazing!

Now this wasn’t just any party, this was a “slumber party" and the girls did nothing short of “party owl night long”! After the girls arrived and got settled they were treated to their favorite kind of pizza and delicious sherbet punch! They crafted mini cork boards covered in owl fabric and a few embellishments and glittered cloths pins! Onto the desserts...the girls were giddy with excitement when they got to take one of each treat from the table, including the rock candy hanging from the tree! After Annabella opened her birthday gifts, the girls got to take the flashlights out of their goodie bags for a candy scavenger hunt! We turned out all the lights and hid the candy so the girls had hunt for their candy in the dark and collect it in their goodie bags. The girls wanted us to re-hide the candy, but it was time for the next game! The girls had a blast playing “sleepy owl”...one of the girls would lay in the middle of the room and pretend they were sleeping while the other girls had to “wake” her up by making her laugh! They could only make her laugh by telling a funny story, joke, or making a funny noise...no tickling! Once all the girls got a turn being the "sleepy owl" it was on to spin the nail polish. We placed a nail polish in the middle of the circle, spun it and whoever the nail polish pointed to they had to paint one nail. We alternated the nail polish color so the girls got different colored nails. All the girls loved getting their nails done with this fun
In the morning Kellie made the girls three different kinds of pancakes, chocolate chip, blueberry, and vanilla with sprinkles. While she was cooking the girls got to write on mugs that Kellie painted with pink chalkboard paint! The girls had such a great time and Annabella’s birthday was surely a HOOT!
