Mini glittery cake with chocolate deco love topper
We hope you all had a great weekend! We have a fun week of posts ahead and can't wait to share this first one with you. We had a small event this weekend that we did a small sweet table for. We love using a pretty cake as centerpiece! It just looks so beautiful and sets the feeling of the table off perfectly. Usually the cake does not even get cut {unless it is a wedding of course} then the event holders get to bring a small cake home to celebrate with later! We love the look of tall mini cakes, so we decided to do a chocolate cake with an Italian meringue buttercream filling and coated it with lots of glittery silver sugar on the outside. We created 3 paper flowers, {you can find the diy here} to add a little sweetness toward the top of the cake and a ruffled silver ribbon around the bottom. But we still thought it needed something, so we decided to make a super easy cake topper out of chocolate. You may remember our chocolate decos for cupcakes that we did a while back, this is very similar.
All you have to do is pick a font that you like and type your word {making sure that the length and size of the letters will fit on the cake} and print it out. We choose to use the word Love in 100 point font. Once you print it out, place a piece of wax or parchment paper over the word and use chocolate in the color of your choice {Wilton's candy melts work great here} to outline the letters. You will also want to create a small line at the bottom of each letter so that you can use this part to stick into the cake. Let it dry and carefully pick it up off the paper, sometime using a small cake spatula helps with this. Place it in the cake, and there you have a chocolate topper! {Be sure to write the word in chocolate 2 or 3 times in case one letter breaks, this way you will have a spare.} You can even make the word glittery if you choose, as soon as you write the letters, before the chocolate dries, sprinkle course sugar over it. When it dries you will have a glittery effect to your chocolate letters!
This cake would be perfect for a bridal shower! Of course, you could use it as a centerpiece and then let the bride take it home to share with her fiance! This cake concept would compliment our sassy bride perfectly! What bride doesn't love a little sparkle!?!

Hot Fudge Sundaes Brownie Bowls
When you have a craving for something sweet, you can not go wrong with ice cream! It is always totally satisfying! But, sometimes you just need something a little extra, something to put that delicious ice cream right over the top! Something like hot fudge, whipped cream and sprinkles and if that still isn't enough how about stuffing all of those sweet ingredients into a moist, chewy, warm brownie! Is your mouth watering yet!?! These little sundaes are so much fun and perfect because they are are individual servings! So what are you waiting for, getting baking!!
Use your favorite brownie recipe and make them in cupcake liners as you would a cupcake.
Summer Love: Berries & Cherries
We have missed you! My computer that we blog from and do pretty much all of our photo editing from decided to crash last Friday...ugggg! It was very frustrating! Well...its back and up and running so we are excited to share our first post of the week with you!
We have long, cold winters here in the Chicago land area! One of the things we long for when when the summer begins is the wonderful farmer's markets full of fresh, sweet, beautiful berries! They are like nature's little treat! Berries compliment and add color desserts so beautifully! Some of the most satisfying after dinner treats are created with berries and not much more. So today we are giving some summer love to berries and cherries!

Ice Cream Cone Cake Pops
So, its national ice cream month, yay! A whole month dedicated to ice cream, what could be better!?! We thought it would be fun to share a little ice cream inspired treat with you! We are just in love with these mini ice cream cones, they are so sweet! We used them to make some ice cream cone cake pops for my twin's ice cream party a few weeks ago! They were a big hit, so we are going to share with you how we made them.
melting chocolate {chocolate and vanilla}
mini ice cream cones
non-perils
candy balls {for cherries}
{a small bowl of sugar to stand ice cream cones in so that the cake balls covered in chocolate dry upright}
These are actually very simple, especially if you have a cake pop maker!! Make your cake pops and do not put them on sticks. When they are cooled and ready to work with you can melt your chocolate {we used the wilton melting chocolate candies, found at any craft store}. Let the chocolate cool slightly to avoid blooming. Dip each cake pop {attached to a toothpick or lolli stick} After the cake pop is dipped set onto of your ice cream cone that is set in the sugar and slowly wiggle the toothpick out. {If a little hole is left just put a little bit of chocolate on the end of the toothpick and dab it over to cover.} Once the chocolate is completely cooled, you can dip the top into the melted white chocolate and immediately sprinkle with your non-perils! If you want to you can add a candy ball for a cherry! There you have it, ice cream cake pops!
{Please note we are not taking credit for the idea of an ice cream cone cake pop, this is just how we made our version}

Sweet Circus Party
We adore Loralee Lewis and all of her gorgeous work! We even had the opportunity to interview her a while ago and it was such a treat! Loralee, among all of the other amazing things she does, creates features for the lovely, Babekins Magazine! The latest issue is nothing short of beautiful! We were anxiously awaiting what Loralee would come up with this time and let us tell you, she did not disappoint! Her "sweet circus party" feature just dazzled! There is nothing better than a vintage inspired pink circus party, done up the right way, it is truly one magical fete!
