Yahoo Emmalyn's Two
Kellie and I had the pleasure of helping plan and create one of our good friends daughter's 2nd birthday party! Emmalyn just loves Toy Story, specifically Jessie! So a Jessie inspired party it was, with a palette of black, red and yellow! If you follow us you know we love to work with soft, delicate colors but we were excited to try our hand at something a little bit out of our style element! We started by doing a custom "Jessie inspired" illustration...a little cowgirl with braids, freckles, cow-patterned chaps and red boots holding a cupcake with two candles and glittered her up! We found some cow print fabric to cover the sweet table with and covered that with a red burlap runner! We hung a "Sweet Saloon" letter garland across the table. Behind the table we used two poles to hang three bandanna buntings with burlap ribbon and above the table hung 3 red and white bandana patterned lanterns. To add to the western theme, we used bails of hay to create some height they also doubled as pedestals for some of the sweets! We set clear trays on them and filled them with chocolate brownie pops with glittered chocolate stars, sugary, star shortbread cookies. We filled a candy jar with caramel corn and used a galvanized three-tiered cupcake stand to hold chocolate chip cupcakes and s’mores pops! We also created a mini ruffle cake to be used as Emmalyn's smash cake complete with an oversized cupcake topper! We made hand-glittered labels for all of the sweets and ruffled cupcake flags to top the cupcakes! Each guest was greeted with a cowboy hat and bandana to put on as they came into the party and left with a little chocolate boot with tags matching the invitation. It was such a beautiful day outside, the kids had such a great time and it was so sweet listening to Emmalyn say "Yahoo, Happy To Me"!
{A special thank you to you very sweet friend Courtney of Pizzazzerie for featuring this party last week!}

Introducing Our New Blog
We are so beyond thrilled to have our beautiful new blog live!! We have been dreaming of this for a long time now! There were so many details we wanted to go into it. We have been creating a vision for how we wanted it to look and feel for over a year now, from the color, to the lace detail to the polka dots. We were so thankful to have meet and collaborated with Carolyn from Carolyn V. Blog Design! She was simply amazing to work with and she literally took our vision and brought it to life perfectly! We hope you love our new design as much as we do. We would love if you would leave us a comment and let us know what you think! Thank you so much for all of your support as we continue to grow! Sweetly, Melissa and Kellie xoxo

Japanese Inspired...
We have always been inspired and intrigued by Japanese culture and tradition, especially with Kellie's sweet girls being part Japanese! We just feel in love with this gorgeous Japanese Mother's Day inspired photo shoot that we spotted on My Little Jedi. The colorful Chiyogami (Japanese paper) and gorgeous fabrics and colors used are just beautiful! We love the bento boxes and the brightly colored cupcake liners that held the festive Japanese candies! What a lovely way to serve tea...from a pink tea pot served with hand painted chiyogami pattern cookies and cupcakes. We have often thought about creating a "Japanese inspired" illustration, this may have just given is the inspiration we needed!

"Candy" Globes
Yay, thank goodness its almost the weekend! It's been a long busy week! So we thought we would leave you with a fun little diy! We love party decor and have to admit we may have a slight obsession with paper poms, globes, crepe paper, garlands...ok we could go on forever! This is is super easy way to add a little fun to your next party...especially if you are having a candy themed party! This is so simple, all you need is a paper globe, tulle and some ribbon! Just get whatever size globe works for your party and just cut your lengths of tulle accordingly. For the small globe, we used about 6 layers of tulle that was about 12” long. Simply put your tulle through the metal part that secures your globe, make sure each side is even and tie a ribbon around the tulle to create a wrapper look. {You can stuff your globe with tulle as well, if you feel that you can see inside the holes} Pull the ribbon to meet the paper on the globe and tack it on with a small dab of glue from your glue gun and you have yourself a “candy globe”! {You can even make them with poms}
