Timeless Elegance

Black and white is such a timeless, elegant and dramatic color combination! It can share the spotlight with so many other colors; a blush pink to add a touch of romance, the sparkle of silver to add some glitz and glam, or even a pop of yellow to bring in a bright, festive flair. With all of the beautiful options, you can not go wrong with the ultra-chic combination of black and white!

Fairies Fairies Everywhere Party

We were thrilled to have our "fairies fairies everywhere" party featured on Amy Atlas today! We are also really excited to share some more details of the party here with you! This was a really special party for us to create because it was for a very dear friend of ours, with two little birthday fairies...Stella and Evelyn.

We set the tone for the party with our "sweet little cupcake fairy" invitations. The party was for 12 little girls so we wanted the sweet table to be simple but still have a magical and enchanting feel to it! Our sweet friend and DIY correspondent, Katie made two gorgeous over sized paper flowers to hang from the ceiling. We then draped pink tulle from them and placed little hand-cut butterflies in various spots on it. We took whimsical branches that we found at a craft store and spray glittered them and put them in a pot as a centerpiece, from the branches we hung more of the hand-cut butterflies.

What fairy party would be complete without “fairy dust” so we surrounded with tree with little fairy dust pots for the little fairies to take. We worked with the momma of the birthday girls (who happens to be an amazing baker and decorator) to fill the sweet table with rice krispie treats dipped and drizzled in pink chocolate and cake pops dipped in pink chocolate and sprinkled with white non-perils complete with mini fairy wings on the sticks that we placed on either side of the tree! We also made mini cupcakes with pink roses piped on top and pink ruffle cookies that we displayed on a three-tiered pedestal. One the other side of the table we filled an apothecary jar with mini “fairy ribbon rings”. Across the front of the table we made a “birthday fairies” letter garland that was held up by little glittery butterflies. The little ones were also treated to fairy wings, that sparkled and were tied on with pretty satin ribbon!

As a craft the girls made super cute tulle butterfly magnets and decorated them with sparkly gems! After lunch and sweets we took them outside, they looked so sweet running around the yard with their fairy wings and rings and getting “fairy dusted” by the beautiful queen fairy, Annabella (Kellie's sweet oldest daughter)! The girls had so much fun and we are pretty sure they all really believed they were real fairies!

Fairies Fairies Everywhere Week: DIY Fairy Dust

Now, what "fairy party" would be complete without fairy dust!?! We just loved making these little fairy pots filled with glitter and a little fairy duster! The little girls where literally enchanted when they were handed their very own fairy dust! Annabella, Kellie's oldest daughter even gave each girl a little "dusting" as they ran around outside with their wings and ribbon wings! We think they started to believe they were all really fairies...it was so sweet! This project is so simple and is so worth it to see the look on the little girl's faces as they receive their very own fairy dust!
Materials:
Mini plastic jars (found at Hobby Lobby)
Course Glitter (Color of your choice)
Ribbon
Flower
Bakers Twine
"Fairy Dust" tag (Icing Designs glittered tag of course ;)
Lollipop stick
Mini pom pom
Hot glue gun/glue

Take your jar and fill with the course glitter (we just filled a little less than half way up). You may need to create a little funnel out of paper just to keep the glitter from going all over.
After you place the cap back on take ribbon (color of your choice) and wrap the cap. Just put a dab of glue toward the back to hold the ribbon in place.
Next take the flower and hot glue it on to the top of the ribbon covered cap.
Punch a hole in your tag and string your bakers twine through. The just tie the tag around the top. Hot glue your mini pom pom onto your lollipop stick to create a little duster.

Finally just stick your duster under the twine so it is secure.
Then your little fairy dust pots are complete and ready to be in the hands of your little fairies!

Fairies Fairies Everywhere Week: DIY Fairy Ribbon Rings

Continuing with our fairy week, we would love to share a project for little fairy ribbon rings that we cmade for the little girls. This project is incredibly simple and the little ones just love them! It was so magical to see the girls running around the yard wearing their fairy wings and shaking their ribbon rings! We displayed rings in an apothecary jar on the sweet table, but these would be a great project for the little ones to make themselves at the party too!
Materials:

wooden ring
glue gun/glue
ribbon (colors of your choice) try to use all different colors, lenghts and textures of ribbon

Take your wooden ring and the color ribbon of your choice that you would like to use as the base color and simply wrap the ring with it. As you get to the end add a dot of glue from the glue gun to secure the end. If you feel like the ribbon is not secure as you are wrapping it, just add some more dots of glue to hold the ribbon in place.

Then just take all different lengths of multi-colored and textured ribbon and tie them onto the ring. The rings look great if you really vary the lengths of the ribbon.

You can tie as many ribbons on as you want but make sure there is some empty space for the little ones to hold on to!

Fairies Fairies Everywhere Week: DIY Fairy Wings

We are really excited about "Fairy Week" all week on our blog! We have some really special DIY projects to share with you and a super sweet "Fairies Fairies Everywhere" party!
First off, we have another amazing project from our our fabulous DIY corespondent, Katie! Glittery fairy wings, perfect of course, for all of your little fairy party guests. These are super simple to make and look so adorable on.

Materials:
Scissors
Hot glue gun/glue
1 sheet of 12"x12" glittered scrapbook paper
Felt piece cut to approximately 3 1/4" long x 2 1/4" wide
Tulle
Silk flower clip or any decoration you would like
Ribbon

1. Create the shape wing that you desire...draw and cut it out to create a pattern (if you do not want to create your own patter we will have a downloadable pattern you tomorrow)
2. Fold paper in half...trace wing shape pattern onto paper and cut out. You will now have two wings.
3. With glittered side down, place wings about 1 1/2- 2 inches apart.
4. Glue felt piece in between wings to connect them together.
5. Using an X-acto knife, scissors or hole punch, place one slit just above the top edge of your felt piece and one slit just below the bottom edge of your felt piece.
6. Cut two pieces of ribbon about 24" or long enough to tie into a bow over your little one's shoulder .
7. Thread ribbon through the slits so ends come out on the non-glittered side of the paper.
8. Tie tulle into a bow and hot glue it onto the middle of your felt piece, glittered side up.
9. Clip or glue a flower or any other decoration you wish in the middle of your tulle bow and your wings are ready for your little fairy!
